The Dutch offshore map, from a transport perspective

The Netherlands has no single offshore hub. Helicopter operations and the supply base for the Dutch continental shelf sit in Den Helder, in the far north of Noord-Holland. Offshore wind work for the Hollandse Kust zones runs largely through IJmuiden, forty minutes from Schiphol. Merchant shipping crew changes concentrate in Rotterdam, a port that is itself forty kilometres long. Northern wind installation campaigns mobilise from Eemshaven in Groningen, two and a half hours from the airport.

Almost every international crew arrives at one place, Amsterdam Schiphol, and then has to reach one of those very different destinations. Offshore crew transportation in the Netherlands is really the business of bridging that gap reliably, at any hour, for anything from one technician to a full crew change with forty bags.

What makes offshore transportation different

Three things separate this work from ordinary passenger transport. First, the timetable is set by vessels, tides, helicopter slots and flights, none of which negotiate. Second, the luggage is heavy and bulky, so vehicle selection has to be based on bags as well as bodies. Third, plans change constantly, so a provider who cannot be reached at 03:00 is not usable.

We plan around all three: continuous operations cover, flight monitoring as standard, vehicles selected on luggage volume, and a desk that accepts changes by phone at any hour without demanding a new booking process.

Fleet and drivers

Transportation is delivered through the vehicle and driver network of Taxi Direct Haarlem, an established Dutch passenger transportation company. That means saloons, estates, MPVs, eight-seat minivans, minibuses and coaches, with a dedicated luggage vehicle added where the bags outgrow the passenger vehicle.

Drivers are professional, licensed, English-speaking and used to offshore work: name boards at Schiphol arrivals, port gate procedures, quiet night runs for crews who have been travelling for eighteen hours, and discretion around commercially sensitive project movements.

How companies book

Most clients book on a corporate account by email or phone, with an online request form for planners who prefer a structured submission. Confirmation normally follows within 30 minutes, including vehicle type, driver details and the agreed price. Journeys are invoiced monthly with your project reference or cost centre on each line.
